Thailand in four weeks
A slower, broader route with room for central Thailand, both northern cities and the Andaman coast.
The route at a glance
A slower, broader route with room for central Thailand, both northern cities and the Andaman coast.
This suggested route covers 28 days and 27 nights. Day one is your arrival day, and day 28 is departure. Travel days sit within these nights; an overnight train would replace a hotel night and needs an explicit adjustment.

How to use the days
Use the first day in each base for arrival and a modest local outing. Put the main excursion on the following day and leave an afternoon free when possible. The table is a suggested allocation, not an operator timetable; flight schedules and check-in times determine how much usable time remains.
The destination guides contain the detailed activity choices. You do not need to complete every listed attraction to follow the route. If you want a slower trip, remove a base and add those nights to the neighbouring stays.
Transfers to book and allow for
Check the real Bangkok departure airport or station. For the north, compare a flight with an overnight train and count any sleeper night consistently. Chiang Mai–Chiang Rai is a road leg of roughly 3–4½ hours; a southbound flight from Chiang Rai may require a Bangkok connection.
Khao Sok village and Cheow Lan Lake are separate places. With only two nights, choose a clear lodge-and-activity plan instead of assuming a lake overnight can be added without transfer time. Andaman and Gulf islands need different road, pier and boat arrangements. Keep the final Bangkok night as a buffer rather than adding another remote excursion.
Adjust the beach for your season
The default coast is a planning choice, not a year-round weather promise. For a summer trip, compare Samui with an Andaman finish; for late-year Gulf rain, compare Krabi, Phuket or Lanta. Check local forecasts, park closures and marine warnings before committing to boat activities.
If swapping the beach, keep the same number of nights and rebuild the transport legs. Do not add a second coast without removing another base. For the north, check current air quality as well as temperature.
Choosing the accommodation
Choose rooms after checking the actual neighbourhood, transport and full-party occupancy. The linked destination guides compare practical bases and property options. Do not book a lake package as if it were a normal room-only stay, or a boat-access beach hotel as if it had a road entrance.

Route FAQ
Do these nights add up?
Yes: 27 nights for 28 days, with departure on the final day. Any added overnight train or extra hotel stay needs to be counted as a change.
Can I reverse this route?
Yes, if the flights and other transport work better. Keep the same night allocation and recheck transfer timings rather than simply reversing a timetable.
Should I book every outing now?
Reserve the fixed transport and important accommodation first. Keep weather-sensitive activities flexible and confirm current access close to travel.
Can I add another island?
Only by allowing more days or taking nights from another base. For most first trips, one well-chosen coast is enough.
