Necessary cookies help the website work and remember your choices. Optional analytics needs your permission. You can read our guides and follow ordinary external links without accepting optional cookies.
Choose Reject optional to refuse optional cookies, Accept all to allow the available optional categories, or Cookie settings to choose categories. The Cookie settings button remains available on the website so you can change or withdraw your choice.
What we use
Website operation and preferences. Squarespace hosts this website. Necessary storage supports site security, core functionality and remembering your cookie decision. It is not switched off by Reject optional. Operational server requests can still include your IP address, requested page and basic browser information; refusing analytics does not prevent the technical processing needed to deliver a webpage.
Optional analytics. If you allow Performance and Analytics, Squarespace analytics and Google Analytics can help us understand visits, traffic sources and which guides are used. Our Google Analytics tag loads only after analytics permission is present. We do not enable Google advertising personalisation or Google signals in this tag. Withdrawing analytics permission disables our Google tag and reloads the page to stop it running.
Advertising category. Squarespace also displays an Advertising category in its standard preferences panel. We do not currently load advertising pixels or automatically loaded tour-booking widgets. Accepting that category is not required to read the guides. External booking links are explained below.
Cookie names and lifetimes
The precise cookies you see depend on your choices and the features used. The following covers the principal visitor cookies for the present setup; security or session storage may also be used by the hosting platform.

A cookie lifetime is not the same as the retention period of information already received by a provider. Deleting a cookie does not automatically delete historical analytics records. See the provider information below for how each service handles its data.
Maps, booking links and external images
Maps. We provide links to Google Maps instead of automatically loading embedded Google maps. Google receives your request when you choose to open its website, where its own privacy and cookie controls apply.
Accommodation and tour links. Some links are affiliate links, including links routed through CJ to Booking.com and tour-provider links. We may receive a commission if you make a qualifying booking, at no extra cost to you. Following an affiliate link can disclose technical information such as an IP address, referring website and click identifier to the affiliate network or booking provider. The external service may use its own cookies and consent controls. Our Cookie settings button controls this website; it does not change your preferences on a website you subsequently visit.
Images and fonts. Website assets are delivered through Squarespace and related content-delivery services. Some hotel photographs come from the hotel or a booking-image service. Those services receive the technical request needed to send the image. We do not use an embedded image as a claim that you have agreed to analytics or marketing.
Managing and withdrawing permission
Use Change cookie settings above, or the persistent Cookie settings button, to turn optional categories off and save your choice. When Google Analytics permission is withdrawn, our code also attempts to remove its first-party _ga cookies. You can delete other existing cookies through your browser controls. Browser settings may also block or remove cookies; doing so can cause the banner to ask for your choice again.
Refusing optional cookies does not stop you reading the travel guides. We do not treat scrolling, continuing to browse or closing a tab as consent.
