Who is responsible?
Krelage Ventures operates Beyond Path Asia and is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. Contact us at beyondpathasia@gmail.com for privacy questions or to exercise your rights.
Information collected when you visit
Squarespace hosts beyondpathasia.com. Visiting a page sends technical information needed to deliver and secure it, which can include your IP address, browser and device information, the page requested, referring website and request time. Our detailed Squarespace Activity Log is switched off. Hosting and content-delivery providers can still process operational and security information.
We use necessary website processing on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing accessible, secure and reliable travel guides. Necessary preference storage remembers your cookie decision. You do not need to agree to optional analytics to read our guides.
Optional visitor analytics
If you allow Performance and Analytics, Squarespace analytics and Google Analytics can process visitor or session identifiers, page interactions, traffic sources and device/browser information so we can understand which guides are useful and improve the website. This processing is based on your consent. The information is not described as completely anonymous.
Our Google tag loads only after analytics permission. Its first-party cookies are configured to expire after 30 days without automatic renewal on subsequent page views. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in our tag configuration. Rejecting optional cookies prevents this tag from loading. You can withdraw permission through Cookie settings; our code stops the tag, attempts to remove its first-party cookies and reloads the page.
Cookie expiry is separate from the retention of data already received by analytics providers. For our Google Analytics property, event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months. The user-data retention period resets when new activity is recorded for that user, so returning activity can extend that period. These controls do not determine how long aggregated standard reports are retained. See Google's explanation of data retention. Contact us if you need information about records relating to you or wish to request deletion.
When you contact us
If you email beyondpathasia@gmail.com, we receive the address, name and other information you choose to send. We use it to answer your question, follow up on the matter and handle privacy requests. The basis is our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, steps requested before a contract where relevant, or compliance with a legal obligation for a privacy-rights request. Our email is hosted by Google.
We keep correspondence while dealing with your question and any related follow-up or unresolved dispute. Once the matter and its follow-up are closed, the information is no longer needed for that purpose and should be deleted, unless a specific legal obligation or unresolved legal claim requires its retention. A minimal record of a privacy request and its outcome may be kept to demonstrate how it was handled. Please avoid sending passport scans, payment details or medical information unless specifically necessary.
Booking links, maps and images
Some accommodation and tour links are affiliate links. We may receive a commission for qualifying bookings at no extra cost to you. Links can go through CJ or another booking/tour provider. Following one can pass technical information such as an IP address, referrer and click identifier to that provider for referral and commission attribution. Bookings and payments take place with the external provider. Its own privacy notice and cookie choices apply there; our cookie controls do not set your preferences on another website.
We use deliberate links to Google Maps instead of automatically loading embedded Google maps. Google receives a request when you choose to visit its website. Images, fonts and other assets are delivered by Squarespace, content-delivery networks and, for some hotel photographs, hotel or booking-image services. They receive the technical information needed to deliver those assets.
Who receives information and international processing
Service providers include Squarespace for hosting, Google for email and, if permitted, Google Analytics, and relevant content-delivery/image services. After an external click, CJ and the selected booking, tour or map provider can receive information. Providers may act as processors for particular services or as independent controllers for their own security, legal and operational purposes.
Some providers process information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Their notices describe applicable safeguards, including European Commission adequacy decisions such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified recipients, and standard contractual clauses where appropriate. See the provider notices below for the relevant arrangements and how to obtain information about safeguards.
How long information is kept
Cookie-choice preferences normally last 30 days. Our Google Analytics cookies are configured to 30 days; the principal Squarespace analytics cookies have provider-defined lifetimes of 30 minutes or up to two years, as listed in our Cookie Policy. These lifetimes do not automatically delete previously received server records.
Technical operational records are retained by the hosting provider according to its security, service and legal requirements. Email correspondence follows the closure, follow-up and legal-claim criteria above. External booking and affiliate providers determine their own retention for information they collect; consult their notices. We do not treat a cookie's expiry as a promise that every provider has deleted all historical information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the processing and applicable law, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time using Cookie settings without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Email beyondpathasia@gmail.com to make a request. We may ask for proportionate information to verify that the request relates to you. We normally respond within one month; if an extension is permitted because a request is complex or numerous, we will explain it within that period. You can complain to the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or your local data-protection supervisory authority.
