Where to stay in Cambodia
Compare town hotels, riverside retreats and island bases by the stay you actually want.
Choose the setting before the room
Compare the exact location, meal options and complete transfer before comparing photographs. Town hotels, upriver retreats, village guesthouses and island resorts solve different travel needs. The destination pages give a clearer local comparison than a country-wide ranking.
Town and temple bases
Siem Reap and Phnom Penh reward a location matched to your visits and evening meals. A pool break can be useful, but compare the actual room and street too.
River, coast and island bases
Kampot town and upriver stays differ. Kep’s hillside rooms can involve steps. On the islands, agree the bay and arrival pier before booking transport.
Siem Reap accommodation
Wat Bo suits travellers wanting restaurants and a neighbourhood feel. The Old Market area is convenient but can be lively late; check your room’s position. A resort farther out can offer more space, with a transfer needed for most meals.

Viroth’s Hotel
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Design-minded couples and a comfortable town base
Location: Wat Bo area
Main advantage: A boutique setting with dining and a convenient town location.
Trade-off: Do not confuse the hotel with Viroth’s Villa or the separate restaurant; confirm the exact property and room.

FCC Angkor by Avani
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting heritage character near the river
Location: Central Siem Reap
Main advantage: A landscaped property with dining and several room categories.
Trade-off: Check the named room and building; a property photograph does not establish the outlook from every room.
Phnom Penh accommodation
Daun Penh puts the palace, museum and riverside within a relatively compact part of the city. BKK1 offers many restaurants but different daily journeys. Compare the exact street, evening transport and room noise; a river-view label alone is not enough to choose a base.

Plantation Urban Resort & Spa
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Families and travellers wanting a central resort-style pause
Location: Street 184, Daun Penh
Main advantage: A garden setting with family room categories on the property’s own site.
Trade-off: Check the precise family-room occupancy and beds; do not infer capacity from a hotel-wide family label.

Pavilion
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Adults seeking a quiet heritage retreat
Location: Street 19, near the palace area
Main advantage: Period buildings and garden pools create a different atmosphere from a large city hotel.
Trade-off: The property states a minimum staying-guest age of 16. It is not a choice for families with younger children.
Battambang accommodation
Choose the town for restaurants and short evening journeys. Wat Kor and other outlying stays offer a quieter setting but add transport. Ask for the actual driving time and return arrangement, especially after a performance or an evening outing.

Bambu Hotel
Indicative price: €€
Best for: A comfortable small hotel with pool time
Location: East side of the Sangker river
Main advantage: A pool and restaurant make it easy to pause between countryside outings.
Trade-off: Confirm transport to the restaurants and performance you choose; a map distance is not the full evening plan.

Maisons Wat Kor
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting a quieter Khmer-house setting
Location: Wat Kor village area
Main advantage: A village-based stay offers a different atmosphere from a central town hotel.
Trade-off: Allow for town transfers and verify the named room; the village setting does not mean every visit can be done on foot.
Kampot accommodation
Town and the riverside streets suit travellers who want restaurant choice. Upriver properties trade that convenience for greenery and quiet; check transfer costs, road access and on-site dining before booking. A property called Beach may be beside the river, not the sea.

Rikitikitavi
Indicative price: €€
Best for: Travellers who want town meals and a small-hotel base
Location: Kampot riverside
Main advantage: A central riverside location with an established terrace restaurant.
Trade-off: Check the actual room outlook and noise; not every room has the same river view.

Sabay Beach
Indicative price: €€
Best for: A quiet riverside retreat outside town
Location: Upriver Kampot
Main advantage: The river setting can make the accommodation a destination in itself.
Trade-off: Despite the name, this is a river property rather than a sea beach. Plan transport for town dinners.
Kep accommodation
A hillside resort can bring views and greenery but also steps and a transfer to dinner. A stay near the market and seafront is a different proposition. Check the walking route, gradients and evening transport rather than judging convenience by straight-line distance.

Veranda Natural Resort
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting a leafy hillside setting
Location: Near Kep National Park
Main advantage: Green surroundings and room choices that can suit a slower stay.
Trade-off: Expect slopes or steps and confirm the exact room access, occupancy and route to meals.

Knai Bang Chatt
Indicative price: €€€€
Best for: A design-led coastal stay
Location: Kep seafront area
Main advantage: A small resort setting with dining linked to Kep West.
Trade-off: Compare the named room and meal arrangements; a coastal setting is different from an island beach holiday.
Koh Rong accommodation
Long Set suits travellers wanting beach time with a choice of accommodation. Sok San and more secluded resort areas create a different, quieter stay with different transfers. Koh Touch is a practical service area but should not be assumed to match the atmosphere of a remote bay.

Long Set Resort
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Beach travellers wanting pool and room options
Location: Long Set Beach
Main advantage: A beachfront property with several room categories and pool facilities.
Trade-off: Confirm the precise pier, bed setup and occupancy; pool access rooms need extra consideration with young children.

The Royal Sands Koh Rong
Indicative price: €€€€
Best for: Travellers prioritising a dedicated resort stay
Location: Sok San coast
Main advantage: Villas and resort facilities support a stay centred on one beach.
Trade-off: Budget for the actual transfer and meal arrangements; the resort crossing is not the same as every public ferry.
Koh Rong Sanloem accommodation
Saracen Bay offers several resort choices and ferry piers, but walking distance along sand still matters with bags. M’Pai Bay has a village atmosphere. A western-beach stay can require a different arrival plan; clarify boat or foot access, especially after dark or rain.

Sara Resort
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting a straightforward Saracen Bay base
Location: Saracen Bay
Main advantage: A beach setting with on-site dining and accommodation choices.
Trade-off: Verify the exact room, pier and current bay access; a sea-facing public area does not mean every room has a sea view.

Sol Beach Resort
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting a stay focused on one bay
Location: Saracen Bay
Main advantage: The property provides specific arrival-pier instructions, useful when planning the full journey.
Trade-off: Arrival includes a sandy walk from the pier; check luggage assistance and the named room’s occupancy.
Kratie accommodation
A central riverside stay makes evening meals easy. Koh Trong adds a ferry and a quieter island setting. An out-of-town pool hotel is another compromise; compare the full journey to dinner and your onward pickup rather than just the room price.

Le Tonlé
Indicative price: €€
Best for: Travellers wanting a riverfront guesthouse and meals
Location: Kratie riverfront
Main advantage: A guesthouse-and-restaurant base keeps a simple town stay coherent.
Trade-off: Compare room facilities and stair access with your needs; a guesthouse is a different product from a full-service resort.

River Dolphin Hotel
Indicative price: €€
Best for: Travellers wanting a pool outside the centre
Location: Ou Ruessei, outside central Kratie
Main advantage: Pool and restaurant facilities offer a pause after a hot outing.
Trade-off: The hotel describes a location about 2.5 km from Kratie market; plan town transport and confirm room facilities.
Mondulkiri accommodation
Sen Monorom gives access to meals and operator pickups. A lodge outside town offers more greenery but adds transfers and can have uneven paths. Ask about the actual room, hot water, bedding, insects and evening transport; a rustic photograph does not tell you how the stay works in rain.

Nature Lodge
Indicative price: €€
Best for: Travellers who prefer a simple green setting
Location: Outside central Sen Monorom
Main advantage: A rustic lodge atmosphere that can complement a nature-focused visit.
Trade-off: Confirm the named room’s facilities and access; this is not a conventional polished city hotel.

KNN Resort Mondulkiri
Indicative price: €€€
Best for: Travellers wanting a more conventional resort base
Location: Sen Monorom area
Main advantage: A resort alternative for time between longer outings.
Trade-off: Check actual pickup distances, room occupancy and the facilities included in your booking.
Check the booking, not only the headline
Confirm the property, room, occupants, beds, breakfast, taxes, cancellation conditions and final transfer. The € to €€€€ labels are editorial price tiers rather than live rates. Pavilion’s minimum staying-guest age is 16; larger families should confirm a specific alternative rather than relying on a family-friendly search filter.
