Overnight overview

Night numbersBaseCountPurpose
1–4Ubud4Ubud works best when you treat it as a lived-in town and a countryside base, rather than a list of famous photographs. Spend part of the stay walking between courtyards, cafés and galleries, then arrange a separate outing into the rice-growing landscape. Central streets can be busy; a quiet valley hotel and a walkable town hotel offer very different holidays.
5–7Munduk3Munduk brings a different temperature and pace to a Bali route. Waterfalls, plantations and forested lake country make it a place for walking and quiet evenings, rather than a beach stop. Roads are winding and distances take time. Choose one manageable outing a day and a hotel where mist or rain would still feel like part of the stay.
8–10Sidemen3Sidemen is a countryside stay rather than a miniature version of Ubud. The attraction is the valley itself: rice-growing landscapes, village lanes and accommodation where the view is part of the day. Choose it for a slower pace and fewer restaurant-hopping evenings. A guided walk and a weaving visit can provide more depth than another long circuit by car.
11–13Amed3Amed is a chain of coastal villages, not one compact beachfront town. The right bay matters more than the general destination label: access to dinner, snorkelling and a quieter evening varies along the coast. Stay for the slower rhythm and the opportunity to arrange considered marine outings, rather than squeezing the area into a brief stop between long drives.
14–17Nusa Lembongan4Nusa Lembongan is an island stay with different neighbourhoods, not an extension of Sanur’s promenade. Choose between Jungutbatu, Mushroom Bay and a quieter hotel location before comparing rooms. Boat arrival and final hotel access are part of the decision. With several nights, you can combine a small outing with enough time to enjoy the place you have chosen.
18–20Sanur3A slower mainland finish with time for the complete airport transfer. Keep the final day flexible around departure.

Total: 20 nights. Day 21 is departure day. A late arrival or early departure reduces sightseeing time, so remove an outing before removing a necessary transfer buffer.

Ubud Palace and the town centre is a useful anchor for the day. Add one nearby stop, a meal and a proper break rather than covering every attraction.

Plan the transfer days

Keep each long transfer separate from the main outing. Agree the complete car journey, luggage and arrival time with the provider. Travel from Amed to the chosen Nusa Lembongan service with the appropriate road and port allowance. Return to Sanur for three mainland nights before departure; do not plan a same-day island-to-international-flight connection.

Adapt the route to your group

Choose a different outing when weather or access changes. Do not add another island without removing another base and repricing the complete connection.
